OutLoud Teen Poetry Slam winners
YiJie, Nicholas, Zahra and Kithmi took out the 2016 OutLoud Teen Poetry Slam at the Melbourne Writers Festival, followed by a back-to-back win by Cas, Victoria, Vincent and Kai in 2017.
JMSS Science Fair
Join us for our annual showcase of student research on Monday 30th October 2017 from 6pm to 8:30pm, with guest speakers and official welcome at 7pm. Entry is free, and bookings are not required.
YiJie selected for Olympiads 2017
YiJie Neo from John Monash Science School is one of the 17 talented young science students selected for Australian Olympiad teams. She received her Australian Team blazer at a teams’ announcement ceremony at Parliament House Canberra on 19th June with senator The Hon Arthur Sinodinos, parents, teachers, academics, Olympiad alumni and officials.
Dylan returns from Barcelona
Dylan Sanusi-Goh has recently returned from the Barcelona International Youth Science Challenge. He was one of ninety selected from a pool of international applicants to attend the unique research based challenge opportunity.

Real world computing project
The ability to work on a real world project was a fun and amazing experience that allowed us to better our coding skills. It has given us the opportunity to participate in a task that can make a difference to scientific research, and has given us an insight into the sort of work that we can pursue in the future.

Regional Science Exchange
Regional Science Exchange - Students from Victorian schools are invited to attend JMSS for a 3-week block to study Emerging Science subjects, do hands-on workshops at Monash University, and experience Melbourne. Students will homestay with a Melbourne family for the 3-week block.
Changes to roads
The roundabout on the north side of JMSS is closed due to construction. You can only enter the JMSS from Wellington Road (travelling east). There is no parking, but you may drop off, and turn around and re-join Wellington Road. There is no access to the rest of the University from the JMSS road.
Principal of the Year 2016
Peter Corkill has been awarded Oustanding Secondary Principal of the Year in the 2016 Victorian Education Excellence Awards on Friday 28th October. Peter was joined by his wife Elly and three daughters Stephanie, Catherine and Isabel, as he humbly received the award on behalf of the team at JMSS, recognising current and former JMSS students and staff.
CHOOSEMATHS Awards 2016
Alex, Dylan and YiJie win an excellence award for their video on the theme "Maths is more than just numbers." The CHOOSEMATHS competition attracted over 600 entries in 2016.
Water is Life conference 2016
Congratulations to bronze medla winners Anna, Ewing, Mary and Sam at the international "Water is Life" conference in the Netherlands, 5th to 11th June, 2016.
SIMC Distinction 2016
Congratulations go to our team of Maths achievers, winning a Distinction Award at the Singapore International Mathematics Challenge 2016, placing in the top 12 of 62 schools internationally.
Anzac Trip 2015
Nick McIntrye, Year 12, and Bronte Alston, Year 10, are representing Victoria and Australia at the centenary celebration of the Gallipoli Landings in 2015.

National Youth Science Forum 2015
During January Brendon and Binura were immersed with over a hundred like-minded students from all around Australia over two weeks at NYSF. Applications for 2016 are open from 1 March to 31 May 2015.
Duke of Kent's visit 2015
His Royal Highness, The Duke of Kent, will visit John Monash Science School on Wednesday 22 April as part of his Australian tour in the lead-up to the 2015 ANZAC Day commemoration ceremonies.
What's happening in Sport at JMSS?
Supercomputing Conference 2014
Arni and Ethan ventured to New Orleans, USA, to discover the latest applications for high performance computing. They presented a project in conjunction with the Queensland Academy of Science, Maths and Technology (QASMT) in Brisbane, using data from last year's JMSS delegates Konrad, Harrison and Itay.
Excellence Awards 2014
JMSS has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2014 Victorian Education Excellence Awards category of "Teachers Health Fund School Leadership Team of the Year". See some pictures here.
Singapore International Maths Challenge 2014

Skater In Line For VCE Exams
All the best to Lionel Mawditt who will be completing his VCE exams in Argentina as he competes at the World In-line Speed Skating Championships.
On Tuesday 11th February 2014 the JMSS Swimming Carnival was held at Oakleigh Recreation Centre. Students’ attendance and participation was at an all-time high, with over 600 students attending the day and getting into the festivities.
Macbeth Performance 2014
As darkness descended over JMSS on Thursday 22nd May 2014, the newest cohort of students undertook to entertain family and friends with a variety of performances of “The Scottish Play”: Macbeth.
